    Plug an Understand Tech agent into your ServiceNow (or Jira) history so every inbound request is triaged automatically. If the agent finds a proven fix with high confidence, the user gets a clean answer with references, no ticket created. If it’s new, unclear, or urgent, a well-formed ticket is created with the right fields (summary, description, impact, urgency, category, assignment group). For critical workflows, the agent can digitally sign its decision (in preview with SEALCOIN AI) so a lightweight “Verify & Gate” enforces your policy before any critical incident is auto-created. We use n8n, with Understand Tech Chat node integration, in the demo to show this live today.

    The problem (based on customers insights)

    A typical 8k-employee company sees ~7,500 requests/month in ServiceNow.

    • ~40% are repeatables (password, VPN, software access) → 3,000 tickets

    • L1 all-in handling cost about $20/ticket; L1 time about 12 minutes/ticket

    • ~25% of tickets bounce at least once (bad routing)

    • ~9% miss SLA

    Baseline for the 3,000 repeatables: $60k/month and ~600 analyst hours.

    With Understand Tech’s agent + automated actions, expected outcome:

    • 60% deflection on repeatables → 1,800 tickets avoided → $36k/month saved

    • Smart creation on the rest (prefilled fields) → save ~3 minutes/ticket → 285 hours/month back ($15.7k at $55/h)

    • Lightweight approval/monitoring for ambiguous cases → another ~$8k/month avoided

    • SLA breaches fall; user satisfaction rises (instant answers or faster creation)

    • Signed, verifiable actions (optional) → agent decisions are cryptographically signed and checked by Verify & Gate before any P1/P2 auto-creation → clear provenance (“who authorized this?”), tamper-evident audit, and reduced risk/compliance overhead.

    Illustrative month-one benefit: about $60k/month.

    How it works

    User asks for help. Chat or portal (the front end can be built and customized in Understand in minutes).

    Understand agent decides (based on the Understand Tech Chat node). Trained on your ServiceNow/Jira incidents and Knowledge Base, it returns a structured decision:

    • Action = Answer or Create Ticket

    • Confidence = 0 -> 1 (you set the threshold, e.g., 0.80)

    • and either a concise answer with references or a ready-to-submit ticket payload (summary, description, impact, urgency, category, subcategory, assignment group, suggested fix).

    Execution policy (two outcomes).

    • Auto-Answer: when Action=Answer and Confidence≥threshold → send the answer with references, no ticket. (Optional: send a reviewer notification by email for visibility/audit, they can still one-click “Create Ticket” if needed.)

    • Auto-Create: when Action=Create Ticket and (Confidence≥threshold or message includes urgent/blocked) → create the ticket with the prefilled fields and return the ticket number.

    Key idea: the agent’s output is structured (not free form), so routing is deterministic. No guessing, no regex.

    Action scenarios (copy for your pilot)

    • Self-serve answer “How do I reset my ServiceNow password?” Agent replies instantly with steps and references

    {\n  "action": "ANSWER_ONLY",\n  "confidence": 0.98,\n  "answer": "To reset your ServiceNow password, contact the Service Desk for assistance. If you forgot your password and cannot log in, a Service Desk agent can reset it for you. In the past, users have been helped by requesting a reset through the Service Desk.",\n  "sources": ["INC0000009", "INC0000035", "INC0000004"]\n}

    No ticket created, but a notification is sent to approvers with one-click options: All good or Create Incident

    • Urgent incident “VPN error 720 since this morning, I’m blocked. Please open a ticket.” Ticket is created with impact/urgency/category set, chat confirms ticket number.

    {\n  "action": "CREATE_INCIDENT",\n  "confidence": 1.00,\n  "summary": "VPN error 720; blocked from network access",\n  "description": "User reports VPN error 720 occurring since this morning. They are blocked from accessing the network and have requested a ticket be opened.",\n  "impact": "1 - Critical",\n  "urgency": "1 - Critical",\n  "category": "Software",\n  "subcategory": "VPN",\n  "assignment_group": "Software",\n  "configuration_item": null,\n  "requester_email": null,\n  "suggested_solution": "Check if recent software updates have affected VPN drivers or settings, as similar issues were previously reported and resolved in INC0000015."\n}

    NEW: Verified Actions (agent identity, powered by SEALCOIN AI )

    For critical workflows, we’re piloting Verified Actions with our partner SEALCOIN AI . The Understand Tech agent can cryptographically sign its decision (X.509 identity), and a lightweight Verify & Gate (powered by Sealcoin) step ensures only verified, policy-compliant actions can auto-create P1/P2 tickets. You get clear provenance (“who authorized this?”), tamper-evident audit, and simple controls, without slowing the happy path. More on Verified Actions with Sealcoin in a dedicated post, ask to join the preview.

    What leaders get

    • Deflection without risk: confidence thresholds + approval lane keep quality high.

    • Cleaner tickets: correct impact/urgency/category/assignment from the start, fewer bounces.

    • Shorter MTTR: instant answers for known issues, faster hand-off for new ones.

    • Time to value: pilot in days.

    • Governance-ready: optional signed actions for critical workflows.

    Beyond ServiceNow

    This pattern works the same way in Jira, HubSpot, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Salesforce Cases, and more already supported by Understand connectors. Swap “Create Incident” for “Create Issue/Ticket/Case” and keep the structured decision + confidence.

    Bottom line This isn’t chatbot theater. It’s a disciplined loop that reuses what you already know, creates only when it adds value, and enriches tickets automatically when you do, now with an optional cryptographic identity layer for critical actions. The result: fewer tickets, better tickets, faster fixes across ServiceNow, Jira, and the rest of your stack.

    Coming soon: actions inside Understand

    We used n8n in this demo to make it tangible, but the action step (routing + create + Verify & Gate) is coming natively to Understand. Want early access or want to pilot ? Tell us and we’ll add you to the alpha list.
